How we review 200 free spins offers

Every number on this site comes from a document we opened ourselves, on a date we publish. This page is the method behind that, including the parts of it we have not finished.

Which sources count, and in what order

An offer has more than one set of terms and they do not always agree. The order of authority we use is the one the operator itself sets out, which is not the same at every operator and is the first thing we check.

  1. The operator’s promotion terms — the conditions attached to this specific offer.
  2. The operator’s site-wide terms — which at some operators override the promotion terms rather than sitting under them.
  3. The Gambling Commission public register — the licence, its status, and the list of domains it covers.

Where the promotion terms and the site terms disagree, whichever the operator ranks higher wins, and the disagreement goes in the record. At William Hill the offer terms prevail; at Kwiff the site terms do, which is the reverse, and it changes which figure we are allowed to publish.

What is never a source

What gets recorded

Each offer has a record holding the spin count, the value of one spin and where that value is stated, the qualifying deposit and the qualifying action as two separate things, the wagering requirement and what base it applies to, the maximum withdrawal and its scope, the expiry, the eligible games, the excluded payment methods, and the licence details.

Anything the operator does not publish is recorded as unpublished, with a note of where we looked and what we searched for. A missing maximum withdrawal and a maximum withdrawal of nothing are opposite facts, and a blank cell reads as the second.

How the ranking is decided

Offers are ordered by what the qualifying spend buys and what the reader can withdraw from it. Two offers with the same spin count and the same spin value are separated by what you can take out, then by what you have to put in, then by how long you have.

Commission plays no part. The comparison set is every offer verified in scope, including the ones with no claim button, because an offer that beats the ones we are paid for is exactly the offer a reader most needs to see.

Verification status, operator by operator

This is the audit trail rather than a summary of it. A tick means that step was completed on the date shown.

What we have not done

One column above is “No” for every operator: we have not followed our own tracking links end to end and completed a registration and a deposit. That means this site does not claim first-hand testing of the claim process, and any page that implied otherwise would be claiming something we have not done.

What we do claim is narrower and fully evidenced: the terms behind every figure were read on the date shown, from a UK connection, logged out, on the operator’s own site, and the licence was checked against the public register on the same day.

When an offer changes

Operator terms change without notice. When one does, the page changes and the read date moves with it. A date on this site is never advanced without someone reopening the terms, which is the whole reason it is worth printing.

If a figure here does not match the operator’s own terms, the operator is right. Tell us and we will correct it — see About.
